This is not surrender
This is not the end
This is not surrender
The knee will never bend
No we can’t look away
No we won’t look away
We can see it with our eyes
No we can’t back down
No we won’t back down
We won’t believe the lies
This is now or never
We only have the truth
This is now or never
There’s nothing left to lose
No we can’t look away
No we won’t look away
We can see it with our eyes
No we can’t back down
We won’t believe the lies
Each day goes by
Will it ever end
Just take my hand
If you need a friend
It’ll be worth it
So worth it
This is not forever
This day will surely pass
This is not forever
The darkness will not last
No we can’t look away
No we won’t look away
We can see it with our eyes
No we can’t back down
No we won’t back down
We won’t believe the lies
Each day goes by
Will it ever end
Just take my hand
If you need a friend
We have each other
You can depend
We can make it
Yes we’ll make it
This is not surrender
This is not the end
This is not surrender
The knee will never bend
This is not forever, no we can’t look away, no we won’t look away
This day will surely pass, no we can’t back down, no we won’t back down
This is not forever, no we can’t look away, no we won’t look away
The darkness will not last, no we can’t back down, no we won’t back down
This is not surrender, no we can’t look away, no we won’t look away
This is not the end, no we can’t back down, no we won’t back down
This is not surrender, no we can’t look away, no we won’t look away
The knee will never bend, no we can’t back down, no we won’t back down
We can make it
Yes we’ll make it
There is no surrender
War and Peace, Part 1 © Gerald Dantone 2025
You don’t know who I am
Haven’t been where I’ve been
You can’t feel what I feel
Haven’t seen what I’ve seen
I’m an ordinary man
I don’t pray, but I bleed
Had my wife and my child
That’s all that I believe
I took them to the sea
They hadn’t been there before
I held them in my arms
I can’t hold them anymore
A moment’s time
All’s laid to waste
A sacred game
That heaven plays
We would dream
And we made plans
But we were pawns
In His hands
I loved my wife and child
That’s all you need to know
You don’t know who I am
I was young, now I’m old
You can’t feel what I feel
A man without a soul
To my regret, I have survived
I have no wisdom left to give
I don’t have much I want to say
Is this the life that I must live?
A moment’s time
All’s laid to waste
A sacred game
Believers play
We would dream
We had plans
But we’re pawns
In their hands
I loved my wife and child
That’s all you need to know
I loved my wife and child
That’s all you need to know
